Ask The Head™ was founded by Chris Curl and Emma Burgess.
Chris has been a Headmaster for 16 years leading and teaching in a range of schools with children aged 3-18. He was awarded a Fellowship in Management Studies and has tutored at the Institute of Education, London University working with PGCE students - running seminars and supervising Teaching Practice. He is a qualified practitioner in Adult and Youth "Motivational Maps". His own school was The King's School, Canterbury and he subsequently also taught at Junior King's, Canterbury. He took his BEd in English and Drama at Exeter University. He has an MA in Language in Education, as well as TEFL, and has taught English in the UK and abroad, directing International English Language Schools. Chris enjoys innovating in Schools & Universities, including helping UK & international families with choice of educational establishments. He is interested in creating new partnerships and setting up new Schools based on the very best practice. Chris is keen on health & fitness and enjoys a wide range of Music.

Emma has been a Deputy Head (Academic and Pastoral), SENDCO, Assistant Director of Music, a private tutor and involved in home schooling. She attended Forest School in London where she subsequently taught in the Prep School. She took her MA and PGCE at the University of Cambridge where she specialised in Education and Music. Emma has both state and private sector experience. She is a qualified practitioner in "Motivational Maps" which are an invaluable tool for use with children and adults, identifying what drives people as well as current levels of motivation. With Emma's particular interest in wellbeing (including emotional and mental health) these can be very insightful. She has taught a range of subjects at both Primary and Secondary level and been subject leader in Maths, English, Music & Humanities. Her work in Senior Management has included designing the Curriculum, creating Schemes of Work, Assessment, Safeguarding and setting up Wellbeing. She is particularly interested in healthy eating and stress management and enjoys being outside as much as possible.
